Spring Is Here!!

We finally got some sunshine and warmth here.  With it being 80 degrees in Iowa lately, we needed a break from the rain that has seemed to be endless lately.  The boys and I were able to get out for a bit today and enjoy the rays before it started raining with the sun out.  Oh, Washington, we are ready for sunshine and spring.  Snapped a few quick pics on my phone of the boys enjoying the fresh air....before the rain came.

7 Years Together

We celebrated our 7th anniversary on the 19th.  Hans planned a surprise trip to Portland for the day and we took the boys to the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry....and we had just as much fun as the kiddos.  Marriage is not always easy and it is a full time job, but it is worth it.  We are blessed to have one another, our faith, our children, and family and friends who support us every step of the way.  Here's to many more years!

Sammy Wammy

He loves to rhyme (like Zekey weaky from my eaky...as he affectionately refers to his little brother) and make up funny sounding words (like flooby shmooshoo...you would have to ask him what that means).  As much as it gets to me sometimes, I would love to pause time right now.  He is a funny little man and he keeps us laughing with his antics.  Since Zeke got some photos taken, so did Sam-bones as I often call him.  And that belt buckle, let's just say he insists on wearing it so much it's like a fifth limb. These days it's jeans every day and a "stylish" shirt.  Sam says he has to be "stylin"....maybe we could all use some lessons on fashion from this boy.

Our Boys

This picture was all Sam's doing.  He just loves placing props on Zeke and taking him for rides in his fire truck (aka the couch or his bed).

A Half A Year

Time flies!  Ezekiel had his half birthday on the 17th, and, yes, I did not get his 5 month update posted.  So we are jumping to 6 months.  He has learned so much in the last month, including finding his ears, discovering his feet (which he thinks are rather comical), sitting up for longer periods, eating cereal, talking a lot (his newest is "da da da"), enjoys reading books, and still working on that rolling over thing (he's quite content to just observe his big brother rather than chase after him). Zeke is a happy, happy little man.  He thinks his brother and daddy are hilarious and he is quite the momma's boy most days.  That whole making strange is starting to creep in, but he still loves to share lots of smiles with anyone and everyone.  Oh, and I can't forget, if he really smiles you can spot his two teeth which came in just as he turned 5 months.  My photo assistant (Sam) and I took Zeke's 6 month photos, hoping the next time we do our own photo shoot that they're even better.  However, I still think they captured Zeke's cuteness and character.  Happy half birthday, Zeke!

 The Photo Shoot:

You can tell they are brothers.  Zeke and Sam both at 6 months in their cowpoke get-ups.

Our Irish Roots

No we did not eat corned beef and cabbage, mostly because I think I would have been the only one to eat it in our house.  But, yes, we did celebrate St. Patty's day, with Shamrock Shakes instead.  And that morning I celebrated by running in my first race in two years, it felt good to be back competing.  We have some strong Irish roots on both sides, but especially from my mom's family.  The Duffy's and Kane's are very proud of their heritage.  I want the boys to know where they came from and I have slowly been gathering artifacts from our ancestors, and, hopefully, by the time Sam and Zeke can grasp the concept of heritage I can share it all with them.  For now they are happy to know that they can wear green on St. Patty's day and are quite proud of it.

You Are A Child Of God

On February 18th, Ezekiel Alexander was baptized by his Papa.  Not a peep was heard during the whole ceremony and Zeke just stared at his Papa wide eyed.  We were blessed to have so many family members and friends there to help us celebrate this important day.  Along with all our family and friends, he now has 3 special godparents to walk beside him in his faith journey and to support him as he grows.  Zeke wore the same white garment that Sam wore for his baptism, made from the shall of my wedding dress.  It is our prayer that you walk with the Lord every step and that you know that He is with you now and always.

To Iowa and Back

We've been a little busy since my last post.  First, we moved to a different house shortly after my last post and then a few days later turned around and flew home to Iowa for a very special visit with family.  The trip was planned for Zeke's baptism, but we were fortunately able to stay for a little extra time.  Ezekiel was introduced to a lot of family and friends he had never met and he hammed it up pretty good in lots of pictures.  Sam's already counting down to our next trip back.  He just can't get enough of that midwestern feeling.
